Anti Aging Snacks

Written by Jeff Behar, MS, MBA

Snacking often gets a bad rap, but if you make intelligent choices about what you eat, youanti_aging_snacks can feel better, reduce your risk to many chronic diseases, improve  your quality of life, and look younger in the process too!

Why Snacks?
Most of us are used to eating three times a day, but it is much healthier to eat smaller meals more frequently. Best practice is five small meals throughout the day. Eating in this way delivers a steady stream of nutrients, blood sugar, and energy to your body throughout the day and is also much less taxing on the digestive and metabolic systems.

And when you eat more small meals throughout the day, you will most likely avoid the pitfalls of overindulging at your next meal and may actually consume fewer total calories for the day.

Keep healthy "grab-and-go" snacks on hand all the time to avoid the tempting lure of high-calorie snacks.

Anti Aging Snacks

There are snacks that are good for you. Some snacks can provide the body with nutrients that can be beneficial to the body in many ways, including slowing down the body's natural aging process. Here are my top five anti aging snack choices:

1. An Apple a Day for Heart Healthapple heart health

There are many reasons to eat an apple - or two or three - every day. One study discovered that subjects who ate five apples or more a week had a healthier lung function than those who did not eat apples. Scientists have also confirmed that apples also contribute to a healthy heart. Thanks to the fruit's rich pectin content, eating two to three apples per day leads to decreased cholesterol levels. Pectin also helps prevent colon cancer , one of the top causes of death in adults over age sixty.

2. Apricots for Anti-Agingapricots

One of the staple foods of the famously long-lived centenarians in the Hunza valley of the Himalayas is the apricot. Research has discovered that apricots have the highest levels and widest variety of carotenoids of any food.

Carotenoids are antioxidants that help prevent heart disease, reduce " bad cholesterol " levels, and protect against cancer .

3. Avocado: Packed with Nutrients

Among the many antioxidants nutrients, glutathione is known as the "master antioavocadoxidant." This naturally occurring compound, found in avocados (as well as asparagus, walnuts, and fish), is made up of the three amino acids glycine, glutamic acid, and cysteine. Glutathione regulates immune cells, protects against cancer , and assists in detoxifying.

A deficiency in glutathione can play a part in Diabetes , liver disease , heart disease , low sperm count, and premature aging . Avocados are also a source of L-cysteine, which helps protect your body from the harmful effects of pollution, radiation, harmful chemicals, alcohol, tobacco and smoke. L-cysteine may also help bo...

Anti-Aging Nutrition Secrets

Written by Jeff Behar, MS, MBA
Young looking womanWhile aging is inevitable, physical decrepitude is not. Many of the outwards signs of growing old can be slowed - and life may even be prolonged - by maintaining a sensible approach to diet. The following anti-aging nutrition tips can not only delay father time, but increase your quality of life and increase your lifespan too! no smoking symbolAvoid Smoking.  Smoking is the greatest preventable cause of death. Almost a half a million people will die each year from smoking. Smoking is associated with a 60 per cent increase in eye damage, an early onset of menopause and an increased risk of several types of cancer, liver and heart disease. The effects of smoking on skin aging have been recognized for a long time.  A 1965 study first identified what came to be known as "smokers face" - gray, pale and wrinkled skin. In recent years much research has focused on smoking and its aging effect on the body. It is now broadly accepted that the skin of smokers is damaged by smoking making them look older than non-smokers. It is believed by the medical community that smoking adds between 10-20 years to your natural age because of the skin damage it causes. Smoking effects the skin in many ways.
  • woman smoking with wrinkled skinIt accelerates damage through the production of free radicals.
  • It causes a dull appearance to the skin - loss of skin glow and vitality
  • It causes skin discoloration skin (an ashy look on white skin)
  • It deepens wrinkles around the mouth and eyes
  • It causes loss of tone and elasticity more than with the normal aging process

If you want to live long and live healthy, avoid smoking at all costs. All forms or tobacco are age thieves, including cigarettes, chewing tobacco, cigars, pipes, and anything else with tobacco in it.

pouring a glass of red wineLimit Alcohol Consumption. Excessive alcohol consumption will age you quickly.  Drinking too much alcohol can raise the levels of some fats in the blood (triglycerides). It can also lead to high blood pressure, heart failure, liver damage and an increased calorie intake  A high intake of alcohol also inhibits the absorption of of calcium into bone and speeds up the process of bone loss. Although alcohol is low in fat content, it is very high in empty calories. What many people do not know is alcohol also activates an enzyme that takes up fat from our bloodstream and stores it in fat cells. Therefore, any food you consume in combination with alcohol is more likely to end up in a fat-storage deposit areas like the hips, thighs and abs. Alcohol also lowers our inhibitions, making us more likely to make poorer food choices. Moderation is the key. Stick to one glass a day. Choose red wine if possible. Why? Because over the past several decades, many studies have been published in science journals about how drinking alcohol may be associated with reduced mortality due to heart disease in some populations. Some researchers have suggested ...

Soft Tissue Fillers Erase Signs of Aging

Written by Administrator

The ongoing fight to delay, and in some cases reverse, the aging process is now here. Injectable soft tissue fillers, can reduce the natural signs of aging and offer  aging men and women looking for a natural-looking, long-lasting fix.

Soft tissue fillers are used with great success throughout the world to treat wrinkles and acne scars as well as to enhance areas such as the lips, cheekbones and the chin.

Hyaluronic Acid Gel

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring component of the skin that is the framework or medium that cells live in. In gel form, hyaluronic acid binds to water and provides volume to easily fill in vacant wrinkles left by tissue loss, making it suitable for larger folds of skin around the mouth and cheeks. This highly purified, non-animal form of hyaluronic acid is an approved filling agent in throughout the world. Hyaluronic acid is a superior filler to other filles such as bovine collagen for the persistent improvement of nasolabial folds -- the deep lines visible from the nostrils to the corners of the mouth. Six months after treatment was completed, study findings indicated that less volume of hyaluronic acid was needed to achieve optimal cosmetic results, and patients overwhelmingly preferred the gel substance to collagen.

Hyaluronic acid works better, lasts longer and requires less volume for the treatment of nasolabial folds compared to collagen. At the same time, ...
