Wild blueberries are a deep blue colored fruit with size of a finger. The blueberries are grown in the wild hence it is quite natural and is free of the effects of fertilizers. The wild blueberries are known for their exceptional taste of sweetness and crispy. This creates a delicious flavor that can't be found in any other fruit. Wild Blueberries are used along with a wide range of recipe in the form of drinks, meals or as snacks. 

Free Radicals and Aging 

Free radicals are created within the body as a result of oxidation. Sunlight, smoking, pollution, alcohol and stress also can create free radicals in the body.

Free radicals can cause damage and death to body cells. This affects the tissues and membrane in the body. Free radicals can affect the functions of liver and heart. This process causes aging.

Anti-oxidants

Antioxidants neutralize the effect of free radicals and prevent the damage caused to body cells. 

Free radical damage may lead to cancer. Antioxidants interact with and stabilize free radicals and may prevent some of the damage free radicals otherwise might cause. Examples of antioxidants include lycopene, lutein, selenium, beta-carotene, vitamins A, C, and E, and other substances.

Blueberries contain 14 mg of Vitamin C and 0.8 mg Vitamin E per 1 cup of blueberries.  In addition, blueberries contain anthocyanins and phenolics that can also act as antioxidants. 

Richest Source of Antioxidants

Wild blueberries contain antioxidants. Based on data from the USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging (Boston, MA), blueberries are among the fruits with the highest antioxidant activity.  Using a test called ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity), researchers have shown that a serving of fresh blueberries provides more antioxidant activity than many other fresh fruits and vegetables.
